We had this long list of target destinations, before we all agreed heading to this paradise. The planning process reminded us how we scrupulously filtered down topics for our essay writing.
Davao city is located in the southernmost part of the Philippines. We have read positive reviews about the security and tourist attractions in this place, which is just everything we all were looking forward for our first trip outside Manila, the country’s capital.
Getting there
Davao City has its own international airport (Francisco Bangoy International Airport) but we opted to take a flight from Manila. The travel took us about an hour and half. We have pre-booked our accommodation so all we had to do is get a taxi to drive us to the hostel. There was no traffic. Plus, the driver is courteous.
Our first hours at Davao indeed, went well.
Maxima Aqua Fun
Everyone is so thrilled that some have even forgotten responding to advisors asking about term papers.
Our first stop is the Maxima Aqua Fun situated at Samal Island, which can be reached via ferry or bus ride from the Sta. Ana Wharf. The latter is the more adventurous option though, so we chose that route.
The entrance fee to Maxima which is tagged as the “Home of the Abyss” is about $6 (P250). This price includes the fee for the Canopy walk adventure that greets visitors upon their arrival.
You will have to walk on the suspended wooden bridge, to get to the other side. There was one stop between the starting and the final pole. This is a must-try for those who would like to overcome their fear of heights. The operators gave us a brief orientation first. An assistant took the lead and provided last minute reminders.
It did not come easy for all us. But wow, those moments were worth savouring.
After the canopy ride, the water adventure now awaits us. But before that, we all made sure to have attended to urgent concerns outside the travel, such as the term papers majority of us were working on.
Maxima are not the typical resort. It has no seashore, but it boasts extreme water fun which includes diving boards you can try non-stop, and a long tarpaulin slide that will throw you out to the sea, about a 100 feet below.
Since the water is too deep, Maxima strictly require wearing of life vests.
Most of us in the group do not know how to swim. I am afraid of not feeling the sand beneath my feet so I normally do not go far from the shore. It was really fun to have done otherwise the first time, of course with the help of the reliable vest, life guards and my friends, as well.
When I tried the tarpaulin slide, it felt like all the water slipped into my nose so I no longer dared dive. I suddenly thought of the term papers to be completed for this semester and possibility of hiring essay writer. But my friends did, many times.
Surprisingly, we had a blast at Maxima, despite the fact that we are not all good swimmers.
Eden Nature Park
This nature park boasts an exquisite view of the city, and picturesque surroundings teeming with diverse flora and fauna. For the entrance fee, we paid around $7 (P280). A tour guide accompanied us as we roamed around the nature park via service vehicle.
The skyline adventure is also one thing unforgettable about this site. We paid around $4 (P150) for this amazing ride that took us high above the trees, with free hands. This also made us wish that Davao City is a few kilometres away from our hometown.
To photography enthusiasts and those stressed of their term papers, the Eden Nature Park is a haven.
The Pros and Cons
The most that we love about Davao is that tourist’s safety is guaranteed. By that we mean, we felt safe walking down the streets at night, exploring what the rest of the bustling city offers. We actually learned about the nearest restaurants and groceries by merely strolling around the area. The people were all accommodating.
Another is that prices of goods are cheap. It helped that we were 12 in the group as we were able to reduce expenses. We were able to save funds for our term papers.
It could have been more exciting perhaps, if we got to Davao in time for the famous “Kadayawan” festival. But no regrets, for Davao is an ideal place to visit year-round. Typhoons rarely cross the city for its location, so you will not have to worry about the rain spoiling your trip.
The only negative thing we noticed is that tourist spots are situated far from each other. You will have to allot 2-3 hour travel time to reach each destination. For a day, you can visit only about two major attractions, and the rest for some stops.
Overall, Davao is one destination worth recommending especially to those who are travelling on a low budget. We spent about $140 for the entire trip which includes the accommodation and souvenirs, excluding air fares.
We definitely are coming back. For now, we are again consulting writing professionals online to ensure that our term papers receive the panel’s approval.
